Why I No Longer Update My Social Media
I used to post my articles on Threads, but at some point, I suddenly lost all motivation to post anything. Looking back, I think there were a few reasons for that:
- I’ve already found a stable job. (Some people do appreciate running a tech-sharing community, and I did use that as a selling point for myself back then. But now, I don’t really need to “market” myself anymore)
- I’m tired of playing the social media game. (Who gets to see your content and who interacts with you is decided by the platform, and the platform only cares about its own interests)
- There’s very little meaningful conversation. (Platforms love controversy and drama, so it’s hard to expect thoughtful or valuable discussions there)
For me, social media just isn’t a good place for thinking things through or having real discussions. The purpose of this blog is simply to keep me writing, so I can think more clearly. It also helps me spend less time worrying about things that don’t really matter—like “growing” a social media.
What I really want is more meaningful exchanges of ideas, and social media just isn’t the right place for that.
